FAQS for new and existing course-providers

You tell me you have added my entry/updated my entry, but I can't see my entry/it appears to be unchanged. Why?

You may be looking at a cached copy of the web page in question that has been stored on your computer since you last visited it. To make sure you're looking at the updated version of the page, you should refresh or reload the page - in most browsers you can do this by pressing the F5 button on your keyboard. If this doesn't help, please contact us - we do sometimes make mistakes!

I want to show a second telephone number/website link in my entry. How can I do this?

Our standard entry has one telephone slot and one website slot (Note: if you have more than one entry - for different locations - the phone number and website URL must be the same for all of them.) You can, if you wish, show alternative phone numbers or website addresses in the descriptive text section of your entry. But please be aware:

Can I make unlimited amendments to my entry?

No. We will of course handle annual amendments if your courses change from year to year. We also actively encourage you to notify us of essential changes - e.g. a change of e-mail address or the cancellation of a specific course shown in your entry - but we would not expect you to make more than one or two such changes per year. Please do not ask us to constantly update your entry with month-by-month changes!

We therefore recommend that:

If you want to promote a particular course over a short period, please ask for a slot on the late offers page (chargeable by the month).

Can you tell me how many hits we receive/you receive?

Any data you get by analysing your own web statistics (and identifying referrals from artcourses.co.uk within them) will be far more useful than our web stats below. That is why we offer you a free trial if you are a new entrant in our directory.

Summary of web traffic through www.artcourses.co.uk January 2011

Our site received visits from approximately 330 'distinct hosts' per day. An average of approx 850 pages per day were requested (so it appears that visitors visit on average2-3 pages within our site).

Our homepage received on average approx 105 hits per day.

However, many of our referrals direct people straight to detail pages (i.e. not via the homepage). For example, we had over 200 referrals a day from Google (google.co.uk and google.com) alone.

We are always in the top 3 (currently we are number 1) rankings in Google for a search on 'art courses'

Our site is specifically aimed at people who want to participate in a course, workshop or holiday, so only a small proportion of hits on our site are from random surfers.

Likewise, the information we display in your entry is such that anyone following the link to your own website is likely to be seriously interested.
